Di Qing

Di Qing (b. 1986, China) revitalizes gongbi painting with a contemporary voice. Using black ink and Asian pigments on silk, she blends classical technique with modern sensibility, merging historical allegory, everyday motifs, and restrained symbolism. Falcons, bamboo, or still-life details frame serene figures whose impassive faces invite interpretation, balancing intimacy and myth.

Her works appear calm, yet beneath the surface lie themes of solitude, humor, and restraint, creating a psychological space that resonates with cultural archetypes. Having lived in Beijing, Taipei, and Japan, and traveled widely in Europe and North America, Di Qing infuses tradition with cosmopolitan insight.

She has exhibited with Line Gallery, Migrant Bird space, and the MIND Art Museum, and participated in ART FAIR TOKYO, VOLTA Basel, Art 021 Shanghai, Art Central Hong Kong, Art Taipei, and Art Beijing. Through mystery and allegorical nuance, she shows how private silence and cultural myth converge in a timeless, contemporary vision.
